Arnhem is a large shopping city with the kind of elegance that will make the heart of every shopping fan beat faster. Arnhem has won the award for best city centre in the Netherlands twice, for obvious reasons.
The GelreDome is generally the home base of football club Vitesse, but also accommodates national and international concerts. Football club Vitesse also trains on the property of Papendal, where Hotel Papendal is located as well.
Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ is located in Oosterbeek and revolves around the Battle of Arnhem during the Second World War in September 1944. The museum is located in the former headquarters of the Englishmen.
De Hoge Veluwe National Park is the largest connected nature reserve in the Netherlands. The area consists of 5,400 hectares of forest, moor, marshes and sand drifts. There is a large diversity in plants and animal species.
The Kröller-Müller Museum is a museum of modern art, located in De Hoge Veluwe National Park in Otterlo. The museum and the adjoining sculpture garden cover approximately 25 hectares together. Annually, the attraction welcomes more than 250,000 national and international visitors.
The Dutch Open Air Museum in Arnhem gives an impression of Dutch life during the past centuries. Living and working conditions of the Dutch are demonstrated by mainly original buildings which were moved, such as farmhouses, mills, a church from the province of Zeeland and a steam dairy factory.
With more than 1.5 million visitors, Burgers’ Zoo in the city of Arnhem is the most popular attraction in the province of Gelderland. Burgers’ Zoo is known for the Burgers’ Desert and Burgers’ Ocean, with an aquarium of more than 8 million litres and the second largest coral reef aquarium in the world.
