Athletics
Three national athletics programmes train at Papendal: Explosive, MiLa and Paralympic.
Explosive focuses on sprint, hurdles and relay events, complemented by various jumping and throwing disciplines.
MiLa includes all middle and long distances, from 800 metres to 10,000 metres.
Paralympic Athletics trains under the same high-performance conditions, with facilities for sprinting, throwing, jumping and wheeling disciplines.
Together, these programmes form the Olympic Training Centre for Athletics: a place where athletes work daily on development, performance and preparation for international competitions.
Track cycling
At Papendal, the talents (sprint and endurance), the national sprint and endurance teams, and the Paralympic cyclists all train with us. They work on strength, technique, endurance and preparation for major competitions.
BMX
At Papendal, both BMX talents and the national TeamNL squad train. Our BMX track is internationally renowned and hosts the UCI BMX Racing World Cup every year.
The track is continuously adapted to the requirements of the upcoming Olympic Games, allowing athletes at Papendal to train under the same conditions demanded internationally. This makes our location the ideal place for talent to grow and for the national squad to prepare optimally for the highest level.
Draughts
The national draughts team follows its regular training programme at Papendal, focusing on tactics, concentration, strength and match preparation.
Weightlifting
The weightlifting programme completes its training sessions at Papendal. Athletes combine technique, strength and supportive training as they prepare for major tournaments.
Handball
At Papendal, the Dutch handball talents — both boys and girls — train and follow their daily programmes, developing themselves towards the national top.
In the run-up to major tournaments, the national women’s team comes to Papendal to train together and make their final preparations.
Archery
Both archery talents and the national squad train at Papendal. They use Papendal as their regular location for training sessions and preparation for national and international competitions.
Hockey
The national men’s and women’s hockey teams use Papendal for training sessions and preparation for important matches. Field training takes place at hockey facilities in the area, while Papendal offers everything they need for strength training, recovery and team meetings.
Judo
At Papendal, judo talents who are part of the national development programmes train daily. In addition, the national squad uses Papendal for training sessions and preparations for important competitions.
Korfball
Korfball talents from the national development programmes train at Papendal. The national team also comes here for training sessions and preparation for key competitions.
Long track speed skating
The long track speed skating development programme trains at Papendal. Talented skaters work on strength, technique and the next steps in their development towards the national top.
Motocross
The motocross programme trains at Papendal. Riders focus on strength, coordination and physical preparation, alongside their sessions on motocross tracks in the region.
Wheelchair basketball
At Papendal, wheelchair basketball talents who are part of the national development programmes train on a regular basis. In addition, both the national women’s and men’s teams use Papendal for training sessions and preparation for international tournaments.
Chess
The national chess selection regularly trains at Papendal. They work on tactics, concentration, strength and preparation for competitions.
Fencing
The national fencing team trains at Papendal. Fencers focus on technical refinement, strength and preparation for major tournaments.
Short track
The short track development programme trains at Papendal at specific times. Talented skaters work on strength, technique and their progression towards the national top.
Skeleton
Papendal hosts the skeleton programme, where athletes train strength, sprint performance, start technique and preparation for international competitions.
Ski and snowboard
Athletes from snowboard cross, snowboard freestyle, para ski and para snowboard programmes train at Papendal. They use the facilities for strength, technique and preparation for key competitions.
Table tennis
The Paralympic table tennis programme follows a structured training programme at Papendal. Athletes combine technical training, strength and preparation for major tournaments.
Volleyball
At Papendal, volleyball talents — both boys and girls — who are part of national development programmes train on a regular basis. In addition, both the national women’s and men’s teams come to Papendal for training sessions and preparation for international matches.
