House Rules – Hotel Papendal

Hotel Papendal has house rules that apply to all guests and visitors of our hotel, bar, event spaces, and restaurant. We kindly ask you to respect these rules for your safety and that of our guests and employees.

By entering the hotel, you agree to the following house rules. All instructions from Hotel Papendal staff related to these rules must be followed immediately.

1. General rules for your safety and ours

  • Hotel Papendal staff monitor your safety. In case of emergencies, the emergency plan will be activated.

  • Visitors must follow all staff instructions.

  • At Papendal, we treat each other with respect. Insults and discriminatory remarks are not tolerated.

  • (Sexual) harassment of guests or staff, whether verbal or non-verbal, is prohibited.

  • The use or threat of violence is strictly forbidden.

  • Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the hotel. By entering, you consent to being recorded.

  • Recordings may be shared with third parties (e.g., police) in case of incidents.

  • Lost property must be handed in at reception.

  • Do not leave belongings unattended, including in your car. Papendal is not liable for loss, damage, or theft. Parking is at your own risk.

  • Activities outside our established policy (such as trading, handling stolen goods, or offering services) are prohibited. Violations will result in removal from the premises and may be reported to the police.

  • In cases not covered by these rules, the management of Hotel Papendal will decide.

2. Fire

  • Always remain calm.

  • Report fire immediately to reception (dial 9) and alert staff/fire brigade via the nearest fire alarm.

  • Stay low to the ground in case of smoke.

  • Never use the elevator.

  • In case of a general fire alarm: leave the building immediately.

  • Follow instructions from staff and emergency response officers (BHV).

  • Each hotel room door has an evacuation map and instructions.

3. Emergency exits

  • Emergency exits are clearly marked and equipped with emergency lighting.

  • They may only be used in case of fire or when instructed by staff or emergency services.

  • It is prohibited to use emergency exits as regular entrances or exits.

4. Accidents

  • In case of a serious accident: call 112 and inform reception (dial 9).

  • Emergency response staff (BHV) are present to assist.

5. Check-in

  • A valid ID must be shown at check-in.

  • Rooms are only issued to guests aged 18 or older. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Check-in times:

  • Weekdays: from 13:00

  • Weekend: from 15:00

Early check-in:

  • Mon–Fri: from 11:00

  • Sat–Sun: from 13:00

Check-out times:

  • Weekdays: before 10:00

  • Weekend: before 12:00

Late check-out (subject to availability via reception):

  • Mon–Fri: until 12:00

  • Sat–Sun: until 14:00

  • It is not permitted to stay in a room with more guests than reserved.

  • After 23:00, no external visitors are allowed in hotel rooms. Visitors must report and identify themselves at reception.

  • Payment is possible by debit card and credit card.

6. Hotel property

  • It is prohibited to take hotel property without permission.

  • In case of (intentional) damage, repair and/or replacement costs will be charged.

  • Intentional damage will result in removal from the premises without refund.

7. Drugs and alcohol

  • We comply with Dutch alcohol laws: no alcohol under 18.

  • ID may be requested in case of doubt.

  • No alcohol will be served in case of suspected intoxication.

  • The use, possession, or trade of (soft) drugs, nitrous oxide, hookahs, etc. is prohibited.

8. Weapons

  • It is not permitted to carry or possess weapons on Papendal premises.

  • Violations will be reported to the police.

9. Noise disturbance

  • Noise disturbance is not allowed.

  • One warning will be given; repeated disturbance will result in removal.

  • Any damage caused will be charged to the responsible person.

10. Zero tolerance policy

It is strictly prohibited to:

  • Stay in a room with more persons than reserved.

  • Smoke in the hotel or in hotel rooms.

Smoking in room: €150 cleaning fee
Fire alarm triggered by smoking: €275 fire brigade call-out costs

  • Tamper with or disable fire detectors (fine €150).

  • Use candles, incense, etc.

  • Cause disturbance (music, behavior, noise).

  • Use, possess, or trade drugs.

  • Use or possess nitrous oxide cartridges.


Zero tolerance measures

  • One warning will be given.

  • Failure to comply results in immediate removal from the hotel/premises.

  • Police may be involved.

  • No refund or deposit return.

  • The main booker remains fully responsible for all guests.

  • Fitness facilities are only accessible with permission from management.

  • By signing these house rules, you agree to them. Without signature, check-in will not be permitted.
