In September 1944, the Operation Market Garden took place and ended in the Battle of Arnhem. There are several war monuments around Papendal, you can visit some of them by bike in Arnhem and Oosterbeek. Will you join us on our journey back in time?
What will you be doing?
At different locations during this bike tour, we will tell you about the events that took place on Sunday 17 September 1944 and the days that followed. Thousands of British and Polish parachutists landed on the Ginkelse Heath to conquer the bridge near Arnhem. The route is marked by monuments that remember Operation Market Garden in September 1944. A combination of a relaxing bike tour in the area of Papendal and Oosterbeek with interesting stories from the Second World War.
Together with our guide, you will discover the Battle of Arnhem by bike. We provide a city bike with three gears. The cycle tour starts @Papendal. This route covers a maximum distance of 10 km. Emphasis is put on the informative character of the tour.
